Valdemar Henriques 1864 - 1936

Described in his obituary as 'dignified and yet charming' he was Professor of Physiology in the faculty of Medicine of Copenhagen University.

He studied under Christian Bohr and in 1893 was appointed as a lecturer in physiology at the College of Agriculture, becoming professor in 1903. In 1911 he moved to the faculty of medicine. Apart from his work on cardiac output (surprisingly this is not mentioned in his obituary) he was involved in research in many different fields: nutrition, gas exchange in the lungs, muscle action potentials, iron metabolism and red cell cation permeability.
